Menopause, women’s number one health concern. Google searches about menopause have increased by 71% in one year, according to a study* published by the industrial group ANJAC Health & Beauty on Thursday, May 22 and carried out with the firm Converteo on women’s main health concerns. The study was conducted in France, the United States and Italy.
Menopause nevertheless remains a taboo subject. Among the 48 symptoms of menopause, 51% of women spontaneously mention only three. Searches focus in particular on a better understanding of these symptoms and on solutions to manage the discomforts linked to this stage of life.
Among the most searched topics, pregnancy also dominates. It alone accounts for “61% of the conversations analyzed on women’s health in France over a 12‑month period.”
LACK OF INFORMATION ON SO‑CALLED INTIMATE HEALTH
The study also highlights that intimate health remains an area where women lack information. Nearly one in seven conversations on social networks in France concerns maintaining good intimate hygiene or preventing infections. Diseases and infections represent 34% of concerns, hormonal imbalances 27% and pain management 18% of conversations.
*The study was carried out by analyzing 1.3 million comments collected from social networks, online forums and Google, 36% of which were in France, 46% in the United States and 17% in Italy, between July 2023 and June 2024.
